The U S of A

So I had my first business trip to the States.

Highlights included:

1 Getting interrogated at the border, this I suspect will become a common occurrence when I travel. The Canadian border was somewhat lax by comparison.
2 Gong show air travel in the states. Cancelled and delayed flights all around. Not to mention the drunk American businessman who left his phone on during the flight and kept singing 'Waterloo' when I told him I worked in Waterloo.
3 Noticing the distinct cultural differences between the US and Canada. It becomes very obvious once you've lived in Canada for a while. As soon as I was in Buffalo airport the people were louder and had different accents, the portion sizes were bigger and there were adverts everywhere for drugs and pharmaceutical care. I had some interesting discussions with the client over lunch about the US and their concerns about the future.
4 Oh and being sick. Not fun.

I was glad to be back in Canada. I might have been ill and sleep deprived but it was somewhat comforting getting a Tim Horton's after I crossed the border.

2011

I'm bad at updating this blog. So in no apparent order here's what I've been up to of late

1) Going back to England with Katelynn for Christmas. Absolutely amazing trip back to see everyone, although we didn't see as many people as we would have liked. Highlights included a night with Bosh (minus Matt who's in the US), taking Katelynn to see a show in London as a surprise Christmas present, and getting to have 1 on 1 time with all my family. And it was very strange landing to a white England instead of a green and grey England, then conversely landing in a green and grey Toronto when we came back home. Next time we go back, we'll be married.

2) Working hard. Business trips to Philadelphia and Minnesota coming up. My job is taking me to an iron ore mine in freezing northern Minnesota in January...quite amusing.

3) Planning the wedding.

4) Planning living arrangements after the wedding!

5) Thanking God for what he's done over the past year. I'm still a work in progress, but what has happened has definitely brought me closer to him and allowed me to see new things about his character.

More to come soon (and sooner rather than later)
